Our transformation from Valente’s Italian Specialties into Valente’s Cucina – an intimate, sit-down, Abruzzese-inspired Italian restaurant –  is almost complete. We’re putting the final touches on our new interior and will reopen for outdoor seating at lunch and dinner on Friday, September 11, 2020. We will also resume takeout and delivery.

Reservations for outdoor dining can be made on our website for parties of up to eight people.

Valente’s Cucina carries Auburn Road Vineyards wine for purchase by the bottle and we’re BYOB.

So, What’s Changing?

If you’ve been inside Valente’s Italian Specialties before, then our interior will look completely different the next time you stop in or dine with us.

Valente’s Italian Specialties was our brick and mortar Italian specialty shop where we carried an array of Italian specialty items, like locally-sourced pastas and cheeses. We also offered takeout and delivery of our specialty sandwiches and Italian family dinners. (Good news: we’re still offering our sandwiches and family dinners for takeout and delivery. Some sandwiches are also on our sit-down lunch menu.)

Valente’s Cucina is an Italian restaurant created to be an intimate space that transforms throughout the day, starting with a laid-back lunch menu of “South Philly comfort” specialty sandwiches and salads, and transitioning into a romantic dinner menu of locally-and seasonally-inspired small plates, homemade pastas, and paired wines.

Like Valente’s Italian Specialties, Valente’s Cucina pays tribute to, and draws inspiration from, executive chef and owner Marcello De Feo’s Abruzzese heritage. In Italy’s central region, traditional recipes are developed around local and seasonal ingredients, and meals are treated as an experience to be savored and shared.

Our interior features an open kitchen and a variety of quaint seating options. The kitchen closes from 3-5 p.m. for the transition into dinner, however we will remain open and welcome you in for a biscotti and espresso at our counter in a nod to a traditional Abruzzo cafe.

Our hope is that when you’re with us you feel like you’re in our home kitchen – la cucina – and our goal is to feed you like our family.
